What is Sensual Touch

Have you ever felt anxious and uncomfortable in your sensuality, specifically with the stories and beliefs you have about touching yourself?

Then this post is for you.

I see you and I understand.  You already feel like you’re carrying the weight of the world in your business because you wear so many hats, you care about your business succeeding, and you don’t want feel the nuclear guilt/shame weight of how you could be perceived by for touching your breasts, womb, and pussy.

I remember thinking that I would be a bad girl or dirty for touching my feminine body. I felt sad and afraid of feeling dirty or that other people would think I was dirty, unsafe, and dangerous.  I also know that that stemmed from believing that sexuality is sensuality {newsflash: it’s not and I talk about that more here}.

And even though I thought and felt these things, I knew deep in my soul that something didn’t add up.

How can being in my feminine body be dirty and unsafe and touching it came with guilt and shame as a baseline where separating from it was noble and rewarded and experiencing it with another person was the only gateway allowed?

I didn’t have these answers when I was thinking about this question when I was 10/11/12 years old sitting on my bed, but I decided to stay open to figuring it out because I didn’t just want body love and confidence in the generic sense of my body shape and physical features; I wanted body love completely and on every level including my sensuality and my feminine body.  That is freedom to me.

This is what I discovered as a part of my sensual journey.

Sensual touch is touch that delights the body and is unattached to urgency or the goal of arousal or climax.  It has everything to do with the intention to delight and feeling good in your body through touch and while it can include your genitals, and it is not required to include your genitals.

Sensual touch is one of my favorite parts of my sensual practice.  It has looked like different things like running my hands through my hair, cupping my face with my hand, petting my pussy, breast massage, and other different forms.  My intention with all of them was to feel good, honor, and reconnect my body. In science-y terms, I am enhancing my attentiveness, lowering my blood pressure, calming my heart rate, increasing my oxytocin to decrease my cortisol and stress, and having fun to increase my endorphins and then getting into my business tasks for the day.  Such a “terrible” thing, right?

So what do you feel after learning what sensual touch is?  Tell me in the comments!
