Raise your hand if you’ve ever found yourself waking up and checking your phone first thing in the morning to see what you missed in your inbox and on social media. Raise both hands if you’ve gone through your day, working on all the things in your business, feeling more overwhelmed and stressed out than Michael Scott from The Office a la “I have to find one hundred clients!”, and you feel empty and depleted at the end of your day.
I remember those days! Things would be crossed off my to do list, and then at the end of the day I would feel that like I got a lot of things done for work or other people. But what about me and what I needed that day? What about feeling full of pleasure and relaxed in my body instead of all the weighted tension?
I think it’s way too easy and comfortable to go through life living from the neck up, but it doesn’t have to be that way. I’ve got a tip for you to shift out of anxious overwhelm and quickly tune into my body.
Do a body scan. Close your eyes and bring your attention to the top of your head. Scan down your body and notice what body sensations are happening (or not happening). This is something you can do anywhere and takes under 2 minutes to do!
Instead of pushing on and on and on with what’s on your plate; take a moment for yourself to reconnect and recollect. You don’t have to be perfect at this *at all*. There are still some days where I feel overwhelmed, and remind myself that I can choose to keep pushing, or I can choose to shift out of overwhelm and give myself what I need in the moment.
The world can usually wait for 2 minutes.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed and anxious about all the tasks that are on your plate? Tell me in the comments.
